Attending Court will be the final step of the bankruptcy process. Before phoning the Court and organising a time and date to apply for a Bankruptcy Order you first need to weigh up your options.
Bankruptcy will clear all of your current unsecured debts, but in doing so it is going to remain on your Credit Report for 6 years, which will hinder your future borrowing during that timeframe. An alternative form of insolvency is an IVA, which might be suitable should you have equity to protect, or an occupation which is excluded from bankruptcy.
If bankruptcy is the right choice for you, then the necessary documentation will eventually be submitted to your local County Court.
For those living within
