Going to Court is the final step of the bankruptcy process. Prior to phoning the Court and organising a time and date to apply for a Bankruptcy Order you first need to weigh up your options.
Bankruptcy will clear all of your current unsecured debts, but in doing so it will remain on your Credit File for 6 years, which will influence your future borrowing during that timeframe. An alternative method of insolvency is an IVA, which often can be best suited for those who have equity to protect, or a profession which is excluded from personal bankruptcy.
If personal bankruptcy is definitely the right choice for you, then the appropriate paperwork will eventually be filed at your local County Court.
